We are actively following the official guidelines regarding the COVID-19 epidemic, and we have updated our mode of operations accordingly. Both the Finnish health authority THL and its equivalents around the world are in accordance about the fact that the virus does not spread in swimming pool water. Additionally, in contrast to regular swimming pool water, our water is purified between each customer. For the purification, we use multiple filtrations, UV-light, and hydrogen peroxide. In addition, the water salinity is nearly 35%. The extremely salty water in the float tanks is also a very unsuitable habitat for microbes and viruses.

Even though we welcome people to float with confidence, the exceptional circumstances are not over. We have applied novel precautions and practices to ensure that our customers and our staff have a float experience that is as safe as possible. If you so choose, we’ll provide you with a face mask at arrival.

Like normal, both our locations accommodate three floaters at any one time. After your float session, you are still very welcome to enjoy the afterglow, but we pay particular attention to maintain sufficient safety distances.

To maintain the number of people at our float centers at a minimum we ask you to arrive approx. 5-15 minutes before your session, but no earlier. If you are coming for your first float session please read the more detailed instructions for your visit below.

Welcome to float!

How your visit at Float Kallio or Float Roba will proceed

To maintain the number of people at our float centers at a minimum we ask you to arrive approx. 5-15 minutes before your session, but no earlier.

As you enter our premises, we ask you to wash your hands. We will show you our facilities and direct you to wait in our lounge area. Our lounge at Float Kallio is approximately 27 m² and at Float Roba approximately 50 m². We take care to ensure that there are not too many people at once in any of our spaces.

We will give first-timers’ instructions primarily in the lounge, always maintaining safe distances. We will show you to your private room where the float tank is located. As necessary, we will give you additional instructions in the room and leave you to float.

We have mechanical air conditioning in all our spaces, including the floatation tanks. This allows for the air to exchange between each customer. We also pay special attention to disinfecting our spaces and taking extra care with all the floatation rooms and surfaces.

The floatation room lights function automatically with motion sensors, as do the lights and taps in all our restroom facilities have taps that function with motion sensors.

We have minimized, as best we can, your need to touch any surfaces or switches.

After your float session, you are very welcome to enjoy the afterglow. In regular circumstances, we welcome you to stay as long as you wish, but in these extraordinary circumstances, we ask you to be prepared to make space for the next customers.

A few practical things

-If you have any reason to suspect that you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus, or if you have any symptoms that indicate infection, please refrain from coming to float. If you find out that you have been infected with the virus after visiting us (max. 2 weeks), we ask you to let us know.

-If you so choose, we’ll provide you with a face mask at arrival.

-If you have to cancel your session due to COVID-19 related symptoms, or if you suspect that you may have been exposed to the virus, we will not charge you for your cancellation, even if it’s last minute.

-We don’t shake hands and we ask you to wash your hands as soon as you arrive.

-If you wish, you can take away your post-float coffee or tea

How early should I arrive for my session?

For the first time, it’s good to arrive about 10 minutes before the start of the appointment. Ring the doorbell and staff will unlock the gate. If you are coming to Float Kallio, the door is on the left side, right after the gate. If you are coming to Float Roba, walk to the courtyard and look for the door that has a “FLOAT”-sign.

Can I float with a friend or in a group?

Float Kallio has three float pools, as does Float Roba. All sessions start at the same time for each tank so you can come with your friend and float simultaneously. Just remember to book your own float room for each float. We also welcome larger groups and we can tailor packages that suit your needs.

How do I need to prepare?

It is best to avoid caffeine for a few hours before your session. Coffee and tea are available right after the float. Also, shaving right before the float should be avoided as the Epsom salt may cause burning.

How small is the float pod? Will I feel claustrophobic?

This is the most common question we get. Don’t worry, the pod is spacious and airy. The lid is light and you can leave it open if you like. You can also leave the tank lights on or listen to music throughout the floating period.

The white rooms at Float Roba (1 & 2) have Cabin-style pools. You enter the cabin through a door and you can easily stand inside the pool. The floating experiece is similar to that of the pods but because of the extra space, we recommend booking a Cabin if you are highly claustrophobic.

How do you keep the pods clean?

Between every session, the pod water is filtered through the cleaning system and disinfected by UV radiation. In addition, water purity values are monitored with continuous tests.

What if I dyed my hair recently?

For both your hair and the tank it is best that the colour does not run anymore when it’s wet. We recommend 2 weeks between hair dyeing and floating.

I just got a new tattoo, can I float?

The tattoo needs to be fully healed before you can float. This is best for both the tank and the tattoo.

What do I need to bring with me?

You do not have to bring anything but yourself, everything else has been taken care of. There are towels and soaps in the room with you and after floating you can use Evolve’s cosmetics. In our restoration room you will also find a hair brush, a hair dryer and a conditioner.

Is there a “right” way to float?

Not at all! Getting used to the environment can take time, but everyone finds the right way soon enough.

Can I float for longer than 60 minutes?

If you want to float for longer than 60 minutes, you can float on weekdays at 7:00 am and in the last hours of each night, if you prefer 60-90 minutes at no extra charge. Just remember to ask us for a longer float when you arrive.

What if I wear contact lenses?

We recommend floating without contact lenses, so bring along your lenses with the necessary storage.

Can pregnant women float?

Absolutely! As a rule of thumb, if you can go to the swimming pool, you can also float. However, we recommend that you always consult your doctor.

What’s the difference between the different float rooms?

All our floating rooms are very much alike. Each room has its own pod/pool, shower and dressing facilities. The door of the room can be locked from the inside, which ensures privacy. The black rooms feature a black pod, however apart from the colour it is identical to the other pods. At Float Roba in the white rooms, we have Cabin-style float pools. Cabins have a lot more room above you (see the gallery). We recommend booking one of those if you suffer from severe claustrophobia.
